Don't try this one at home.....

I was teaching the kids how to volley today using balloons.  I thought it would be fun to have them try to volley the balloon up and spin 360 around before hitting it again.  So, I decided it was a good idea to demonstrate this to the class.  Not a good idea, especially since I've been sick with bronchitis for the last 2 weeks.  So, after spinning a few times around volley the balloon, I stop.  I look out to the class and my head is spinning.  Not a good idea.  I ask the class why is there so many of them today, because I'm seeing 2 or 3 of each of them.  They started laughing of course.   Getting dizzy for the kids, its worth it though.

Crazy Excuse!

As a PE teacher I am always getting students with a variety of excuses as to why they can't participate in PE.  Now normally it's the usual stuff, headache, stomach ache, broke my arm, etc.  However, once in awhile I get some excuse that just crack me up.

Here is one that got me laughing to myself:

"Mr. PE, my mom said I can't run today because I "caught" asthma!"  For those that don't know you can't catch asthma.  The kid made it sound like something he just caught like a cold or the flu or something.

I had to laugh a little inside, but made sure to set the poor kid straight and explain to him that he could still participate, but just to learn to manage the asthma through proper breathing.

It amazes me how many kids today are being diagnosed with asthma, and the most sad thing to me is that they think and the parents think they can't do any sort of physical activity because of it.
